Our Applefields Registered Charity Account, raises money throughout the year to purchase equipment, toys and games, days out, residential visits, a new school gym and so much more for the benefit of our pupils at school.
Last year we raised a phenomenal amount to fully equip a classroom as a gym for our pupils to use as part of their PE lessons, and an after school club, complete with rowing machine, static cycles, gym balls, weights, treadmill and cross trainer.
Over the years the Charity has funded several residential visits to both Bendrigg and Carlton Lodge, fully paying the staffing costs to take Post 16 students away for a week, many for the first time; contributing to the Leavers Ball; bought adapted bikes and cycle helmets; sponsored a Shakespear event; bought a Go Pro camera; run a Let's Get Cooking club; hired a mobile planetarium and much, much more.
At the moment we have just purchased some wonderful games and equipment for our P16 common room - pictures below.
More exciting for the new year is a fantastic new climbing frame which will be situated in the main school hall for pupils to access on a daily basis.
During next Spring we are looking at designing some playground equipment for the pupils to access throughout the school day - details to follow!
